- Synthetic long underwear tops and bottoms (2-3 pairs of mid-weight & 1 pair of heavy-weight)

- Synthetic short-sleeve t-shirts (2)
- Long-sleeved shirts (2, wool, synthetic or cotton-blend)
Outerwear- Heavy cotton pants
- Shorts (1)
- Fleece pullover or jacket
- Fleece vest
Rainwear- Heavy-duty extreme foul weather gear pants and jacket
- Wind/Rain jacket and pants
Footwear - Felt insoles (1, buy at roadhead)
- Lightweight hiking boots
- Camp shoes
- Heavyweight wool or synthetic blend socks (5 pairs)
- Lighweight liner socks (5 pairs)
Rubber boots Otherwear- Wool or fleece hat
- Hat with visor
- Broad-brimmed sun hat
- Neck gaiter or scarf
- Gloves (large rubber or neoprene)
- Polypro glove liners
Equipment- Sleeping bag (synthetic fill, comfortable down to 10 degrees)
- Tent (provided on many Alaska river trips, check with your leader)
- Ground cloth
- Waterproof day bag
- Small day pack
- Sunglasses with tie-on cord (with 100% UV protection, 2 pairs)
- Water bottle (at least 1 liter)
- Waterproof sunscreen, sunblock, lip balm and non-greasy moisturizing lotion (15 SPF or greater)
- Insect repellent
- Zip-lock bags
- Large Heavyweight "trash compactor" bags
- Biodegradable soap and/or shampoo
- Toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrush, dental floss, feminine hygiene products, etc.)
- Lightweight towel/washcloth (and/or bandanna)
- Medications
- Moistened antibacterial disposable cloths
- Carabiners (at least 3)
- U.S. Passport (if you are going into Canada)
Optional ItemsClothing- Nylon swim shorts (1 pair)
- Fleece pants (1 pair)
- Medium-weight socks (to wear with camp shoes, 5 pairs)
- Neoprene Socks
- Wet-suit booties
Other- Book, notebook, pen & pencil, art supplies...
- River guidebook and/or map (Alaska River guide $16.95)
- Flashlight
- Beer or soda (ask your leader about availability and/or limit on amount - no glass!)
- Personal first aid (pain relievers, band-aids, moleskin, etc.)
- Camera and film or memory cards
- Binoculars
- Whistle (for safety)
- Small Thermos
